the recovery disk that came with the computer keeps asking for the Win 2000 system disk. Well, I have the Win XP Prof system disk, I need the recovery disk for Win XP Prof 1.
How do I get one? Where do I buy it??

That sounds like an issue of someone performing and upgrade on the computer.
The recovery disc that you have should not require an update if bought legitimately. That sounds like you have an copy of a upgrade xp pro installation disc. If this is the case it needs to see a copy of the previous operating system that is being upgraded. It will use any previous windows installation disc and not just windows 2000.
Also you must have the udgrade version of the COA to use that disc and have it activated...
You can buy older versions of windows operating systems from places online

Are you talking asking about the six recovery floppy disks? Check your system to see what you need as they are at:

You cannot upgrade Win2000 to WinXP Pro, if that's what you are trying to do.Win2000 PRO 'can' be upgraded to WinXP PRO
Sorry, I do not check for private messages

Well the computer came with Windows XP Prof 1 preinstalled.
I think someone gave it the wrong recovery cd set.

I think go here-
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/
click Software and Downloads,
enter Product information,
then a few more clicks, there is an online ordering.
