That sounds like an issue of someone performing and upgrade on the computer. The recovery disc that you have should not require an update if bought legitimately. That sounds like you have an copy of a upgrade xp pro installation disc. If this is the case it needs to see a copy of the previous operating system that is being upgraded. It will use any previous windows installation disc and not just windows 2000. Also you must have the udgrade version of the COA to use that disc and have it activated... Well the computer came with Windows XP Prof 1 preinstalled. I think someone gave it the wrong recovery cd set.
