Alright. Computer crashed with "system32/drivers/Ntfs is missing or corrupt" and all that recovery console bs. So I decided, f-it, I need to clean install anyway, something is bogging the comp down bad. The new installation doesn't lag at all...but I cant access my old documents and settings folder. I could care less about the programs and settings and bs...but I NEED THOSE FILES. I know it has been posted before, but I am busy and haven't the time to sift through hundreds of worthless posts to find the ONE good one. Please help..and NO ABBREVIATING. PLEASE. I don't know what ACL is, like some other smart guy posted. Thank you.

You said " I need to clean install anyway". I take that to mean you formatted your hard drive and reinstalled XP. Anything less than this is not considered a clean install. If this is in fact what you did you can forget about those files because they were erased when the drive was formatted.
If you did something else post back and let us know each step you took so we may attempt to help you.
