Hi,
I have a 2.8 with 800 fsb, 256 pc 3200 ram, 40 gig maxtor hd, a 350 watt power supply, p-4 titan mobo, and a radion 9600 pro. Here is the problem. I turn on my computer and it starts up than it will shut down, but not all the way, the mobo and ram is still on, I can tell because the ram has a light and the mobo does too. But before I can turn it back on I have to reset the power supply. I was told 350 was enough but than also told it wasn't. I am ordering up a 480. It seemed to run longer without fans or lights pluged in. All I want to know if I am on the right track. The cpu never gets above 70-75 degress. Thank you.

I have a P4 with 1 GB of RAM, Nvidia video card (AGP), DVD-RW, two hard drives, soundcard, network card, and a SCSI card. And I only have 350W power supply. The power supply also runs two extra fans on the case and everything is running without a hitch... As you can see, 350W should be plenty for your system! Maybe your power supply is bad!!!

p.s. I didn't know that RAM has a light to tell you whether it's on or not!!!

AS Kevin said 350watts is more than adequate. Perhaps there is a rail voltage that is out of tolerance. Also, there are quality 350watt power supplies and then there are the others. I recommend getting a quality name brand power supply from Antec, Enermax, Zalman, but there are other good ones. You can check out power supply ratings at Tomshardwareguide and the buyer's ratings at Newegg(great service and decent prices) to get other ideas. A good power supply really does not cost that much more than a cheap generic one.

Is that C 0r F. If its C its a bit on the hot side and that could be your problem.

70-75 C degrees is definitely on the hot side. If it is C and not F then your computer is shutting down because it is over heating. I actually had a similar problem. The first time I tried to build a computer I accidently removed the thermal compound. When I tried to turn on my pc afterwards it would turn on for less than a minute before it shuts itself down. Well after realizing my mistake I bought and put on the thermal compound and my system worked again! Also make sure your cpu fan is on(see if it is working with your case open.) Remember that over heating your system can permanently damage your cpu and your system.

Specs on the 2.8/800 put it at 69.7-75C
Has it ever worked or is this a new configuration for you? It sounds like a ps problem or a bios configuration problem. I would suggest checking the bios settings first.
