Okay, I just reinstalled my operating system because when I tryed to boot up it would say bootmgr i missing CTRL +ALT + DELETE to reboot. And it just kept doing it. So after I got the OS reinstalled through the disk I tryed going to the internet and it wont come up. The internet itself comes up but will not connect? What should I do? And is there anything else I need to do for the OS? I havent done anything besides try to connect to the internet? And if I do need to do something will you tell me how to do it?
Thanks so much

More than likely you need to reinstall the network adapter drivers.

Go to the manufacturer's website and under download/support or drivers > your computer model and operating system there should be a list with all the drivers for the hardware/software that came with your computer. Look for the network adapter driver file and download it to the desktop and then double clcik it to run the installation!

You're obviously on the internet now, right? Download the driver, copy it to a thumbdrive, then transfer it to the system that needs it.

And if you're missing that driver, you probably need the motherboard chipset driver, video driver, sound driver, etc. Windows may have loaded genric drivers for your devices but you should update to the latest available.

Then use a CD.

Didn't you get any CDs with your computer?

what do you mean a CD? When I reinstalled Windows XP and it booted up and i went to the internet this box popped up and it said... does not have internet connection. what do you want to do, view ISP offer provided by my computer manufacturer... Run the new connection wizard so I can select another connection method (these are to choices i can make) so I think its asking me to make a connection im pretty sure

You said you don't have a thumb drive. Did you get any driver CDs with your computer when you purchased it? If not, burn the Network Adapter drivers to a CD and install them on the other computer.

You'll need to know what type of adapter is in the machine, and if Windows can't identify it, you'll either have to dig into the machine and look for the card/chip or find the system on the manufacturers' web site and track down the drivers. Then burn the drivers to CD/DVD as normal (but as mentioned, you machine should have included the drivers on CD when you bought it)...

well it came all put together and ready to go? cause we made it online and then they said they would test it to make sure everything worked. so when we got it, it was ready to go. there has to be an easier way just to get a connection to the internet on a damn computer. all it is asking basically is that i need to make a connection for the internet to get through

"all it is asking basically is that i need to make a connection for the internet to get through"

.... and if you follow the instructions you have been given you will achieve this!. There are certain things you are going to have to do yourself:

a.) Use your laptop to down load the driver you need.
b.) Copy it to a flash drive... if you don't have one then get get one, they are dirt cheap.
c.) copy the drive to your desktop and you're home and hosed.

The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money!
