hi-
i despertley need help big time! i recently just bought a Geforce 2 MX 200(64 mb). my processor is at 1.2 gighz, and i have 512 mb of ram. I'm currently using Windows XP Pro.
ok so i install the card, i then install new motherboard drivers, in which i'm using a PC Chips:M810LR(v2.03) motherboard. then i got the current drivers for the video card, and then i thought that would be enough. but as soon as i start the computer up.. my computer starts to melt. and it melts when i drag the cursor around the screen, and then it locks up and the computer stops responding in any kind of way. i went to device manager and checked out the monitor tab and checked out properties and then drivers and there is an error saying (Code 10)...failed to start or something. i tried looking for directX 8 for windows XP, but i cannot. and i think that could be a problem but i have no idea. i just want this thing to work, and i'm thinking i may just have to go back to windows 2000 but i really do not want to...cause it's a pain in the ass to format everything and start over. and i am so dissatified that i have to go this far with updating every little driver just to put a simple video card so i can use it with windows XP Pro. so if any of you guys know what the deal is, or what i can do to fix this...please please let me know. this is something simple which has turned into something bad. please let me know. thanks
my email is blueversuviusx@yahoo.com
thanks again
and have a nice day.

my friends computer had that same problem. turned out he had bad sectors on his hard drive. if you notice any clicking noises at all coming from your computer when it starts to 'melt' it is almost definantly the same thing

best thing to do, as it solved the problem, run a FULL scan disc, surface scan and all, let it go all the way thru, afterwards the performance decrease should cease, and your problem should be solved.
