I want to use my webspace that comes with my ISP acct. You have to use ftp to upload images to that space. I have NO clue how to do this or what software would be best and easiest for me. Does anyone have any recommendations as for software? Can anyone point me to some easy instructions on how to do ftp?

Which isp do you use? I have Earthlink and they have a web builder to use that makes it easy, you can use your web browser for the entire process. Check out my website I built it with their process.

I use a little ISP called Connectto. To use the webspace they give you, you have to use ftp to upload. I have used things like geocities before and it is fairly easy to figure out, but I really want to use my 20 MB at connectto. k

I downloaded and installed Smartftp, but I am kind of lost on how to start. I also downloaded, but have not installed, CoffeeCupftp.

You can use Internet explorer if you want. It will upload to ftp also. If you use it once there will be a short cut to your ftp site in Windows Explorer under My Network Places then you can just drag and drop or copy and paste files to it just like it's a networked computer with file sharing enabled. It makes it very easy.

You can use IE to upload to you Web site, but you had better make sure all your links and reference work because there is no checking.

I use Terrapin FTP. It was particularly designed for uploading to Web sites. It does a check on integrity of you files before it uploads, checks for the validity of links, reference and such and in some case will fix errors for you. Highly recommend. It has an option that says "Publish Web" site. ALL you have to do then is answer the question when prompted like your user name and password, location of source files, FTP address of your web site and a few other questions.

I use SmartFTP. Nice program for novice and other work..

I also use CuteFtp Pro when I edit and change my PHP site.. This has a built in Text editor.

Smart ftp is by far the easiest to use. and it's free.
