Need help with 2nd hard drive!!!

i am tryin to hook up a second hard drive to my PC and want to retrieve some files form it. I hooked it up and everything and i don't know what do to next. I can't boot from the other one because windows is messed. when i boot it tell me to put some boot disk in. i thougth this second hard drvie installing was easy. I want to reformat this hard drvie after i get what i need from it. Please help. By the way my hardware is: P4 2.4 ghz 256 ddr333 Asus P4S533 GeForce 4 Mx 64

Yeah, what's wrong with it? Fork over some better details Phil. Although I think it might have something to do with the jumper settings. If so, make them both cable select (CS) and put the messed up HD in the middle of the IDE cable, and your good HD on the end of the cable.
