I need help deleting a virus on my comp ... or any file for that matter ... its aggrivating how XP places a strangle hold on the files ... i want complete control of my files ... ability to delete them or whatever i want to do. Anyway the comp tells me that the file is being used by another person or program..... blah blah blah. I attempted to restart using command prompt however my directory is C:\.....\settings and document\billy bob> instead of C:\ ... I dont event know what the 'F' to do with this ... This is so damn frustrating. Can someone go through this step by step ... once i get into command propt ... whatdo i need to type ... not just C:\windows>del /? ... i need a real solution in non-nerd vocabulary. I dont have a floppy drive so i dont want to make a boot disk i just want this to F@#$in work. Plz help the name of the file is "Heroes of Might and Magic IV - NOCD Crack.ace" Plz help ... all i want is to be able to manipulate my files without reformattin the hard drive every time this bs happens ... i appreciate it ... thx

I had one this morning that wouldnt let me delete, I restarted the computer and went into safe mode in my account and then I could delete it. Restarted and it was gone.

gabep
u r the man ... that damn program is the greatest thing ever created ... u r my personal hero, if i was a woman i would make sweet sweet love to you. if u need any help ever (not that i could possibly assist a hero like yourself) just ask ... peace

The accolades are not deserved, just trying to help. If I wrote the program I would feel I deserve it. Peace bro!

There is a registry tweak for this
run regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{86DF.....}
they ken in there should say AviProc32 or something like that. Delete this key and reboot Xp (should work without reboot too thouh)..files won't be locked by XP anymore!
Note: Backup your registry before playing around with it!
