I need some guidance about Norton Ghost for making image file or cloning the drive.

There are options as under

To clone an entire (physical) DISK, select: Local -> Disk -> To Disk

Here if the source disk is of 40 GB then the destination Drive is of 80 GB so in this case is it currect that we can close the source disk into a larger disk so the size should be same.In case of partions in the source disk then it will copy the entire partition in the destination disk ?

2- In case of Local -> Disk -> To Image

when we use this option?

3- In case of Local -> Partion -> To Partition

when we use this option ?

4- 3- In case of Local -> Partion -> To Image

when we use this option ?

These points are confusing me and if some one enlight on it with his practical experience then it will be great.

Thanks
garden.

disk to disk will basically put your disk of 40 G on a disk of 80 G (if you run out of space)

partion to partition will copy partition to partition (simple)

Disk to image

You copy the information of a complete disk to an Image file .
Always use the check option afterwards to check of the image is not corrupt

Partiton to partition

E.g You have 2 machines, same hardware, and want to have a quick copy of the C partition basically to clone the PC

Partition to Image

E.g You have 2 machines, same hardware, and want to have a quick copy of the C partition on CD basically to clone the PC later (maybe in an other office or other place or to keep a copy of good working situation - virus free)

thanks for the replies well "Svzvgv" in Disk to Disk when we make clone of one disk suppose source disk is of 40 GB (Having Two Partitions) and Destination disk is of 80 GB has only formated with single partion .When Diska to Disk is made it will automatically make same partions of source partions and leave remaining space as ?

2- In Disk to image it copy the complete image of Disk in an image including MBR ? Suppose I have installed windows xp on C and want to keep it's backup then in this case should i use Disk to Image or Partion to Partition ?

3- How can I check that image is not corrupt ? which option should I enable?
