need cd rw driver for win xp

Hi I have Compaq Presario 5000, 5BW 135 desktop.I deleted or corrupted it cd/rw driver...and now i can not find the driver anywhere on the net. and compaq guys dont have it on their website. I desparately need help.can anyone give me that driver. I will be really thankful to u guys take care In desparate need of help

All CD, CDRW drives use generic drivers. Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Click on the + box on CD drives, remove your CD-RW drive then re-boot the computer. Windows XP will re-install your CD-RW drive and it's drivers. If you are refering to your burning software a re-install of the software is required. Best to delete old before re-installing.

I tried ur method but it is not working.The computer still can not detect the cd rom/rw hardware. when i open the cd rom to put in any cd ...it works fine ..it just dont show up in the "my computer" thing...and i think the driver can not be installed.is there any other way thanks for ur help clark

hi clark ..the computer has detected the cd rom/rw hardware. Now the problem is that it says "the driver for this hardware may be missing or corrupted".

heyy... i just fixed my cd rw...thanks alot clark for enlightening me. I owe alot to u. I have no words to say thanks to u. My cd rw has beeen like that for like 2 months now . You helped me fixed it.Thanks alot man. Hats down to clark
