Specs: Windows XP
I need a good laptop; currently have Toshiba A105-1014 - it's time for a new one (probably) - currently this laptop stalls and cannot even get emails to download properly; this all started when I accidently loaded MALWARE and trying to get rid of it has made my laptop really slow.

You don't need a new laptop. You need to restore the laptop back to factory defaults if you can't repair xp properly.

First thing you ought to do is get the DVD's the came with your laptop and return it to the OEM state. Then put all the MS updates and Microsoft Security Essentials on. Then see if you can live with it.

Any laptop under $500 over $400 ought to be pretty good.

Well thank you for all of the suggestions. I moved all of the documents to an external hard drive and deleted all old emails from outlook; the internet seems to be working okay again. IE now pops up with these crazy websites when I'm trying to open firefox. I tried to do a system restore; but it kept going to a restore point; then failed when I tried to use a date prior to all of these issues. I think I can find the original discs to restore; but having issues with streaming video; read somewhere that with only 512MB it needs to be upgraded to 2GB to be successful with streaming video. I am no computer person; to be messing around with installing additional memory. Been dealing with this since 16JUL and it takes me 2 to 3 hours a night and 4-6 hours on the weekend.
