Hello, I'm running xp pro and have noticed something listed in the processes in the Task Manager named CDAC11BA.exe and am wondering if anyone knows what this is??? I searched this site and found nothing, and put it into google and got only 4 results, a couple of which were dead. Another was a page w/ foreign language page and the translation made it almost impossible to follow what was being said, though other topics on the forum talked of viruses and such. In the forum it mentioned UT2003 (Unreal Tournament 2003, not yet released but will be fairly soon). I'll admit, I got ahold of a beta release of this and was wondering if this was possibly some trojan or something??? I'm just kinda guessing here, but if anyone knows anything I'm just curious. I have run updated virus scans and nothing came up, and I search for the file and nothing comes up, and its of course then not listed in startup in msconfig. I searched in the registry for it and one time it comes up under HKey_Classes_Root\Software\Microsoft\SearchAssistant\ACMru\5603 (i'm guessing this keeps a cache of recent searches, since i see others in there that i've searched for recently) and also in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\SharedDLLs where it has a value of c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdac11ba.exe
I do not currently have internet access on this PC, so when I do I'll probably try updating Ad-Aware and see if it picks anything w/ that up.
I don't know if its anything to worry about or not, just kinda curious. If anyone knows anything, I thank you in advance.
Cheers,
William

CDAC11BA.EXE is SAFEDISK! This is a CD-ROM copy protection program that prevents users from running a pirated copy or a program or game!
You can't disable it unfortunately!
Hope this helps
Matt

Lesley: NOPE :)
Niteflyer, thank you. How does that work (i vote that it doesn't, no reason though :p). I wonder what would happen if I deleted all registry entries...hmmmm don't think I'll find out though!
Thanks bro,
William

Not treally too sure how it works or even if it does work just know what it is LOL!
You're welcome!

This was why I was asking :
"Ensure c-dilla is running as a service after installation and upon
reboot, it appears as 'CDAC11BA.EXE'. If all is installed correctly
you should get the inner and clan pack images on the menu
screen...with new mechs, weapons and equip"Taken from a Google Groups Post - it's referring to the installation of a Game -Mech Warrior
I assume that some of these Games Cds have the Copy Protection which Matt refers to.
Lesley

One thing you can do is go into services and set the setting on c-dilla to manual instead of automatic. This way it will not start up unless you try to run the mech games.
