I have never noticed this before, but in msconfig is it normal to have no named entries in the the Startup tab. There a 4 of them. I can see a location for them but no commands.

Please help
Thanks in advance

Don't really understand ur Q.....

But mscofig/startup tab has the following...

1) Startup Item (with ticked radio boxes)
2) Command (path to programs)
3) Location (registry entry)

Also 'Enable All' and 'Disable All' buttons

That's about it !!

I'm going to reply on the assumption that you are running an up-to-date virus program, so the blank entries aren't viruses. (but if you're not, I would strongly suggest scanning your computer at www.pandasoftware.com to see if your computer is infected)

Go to START, RUN, REGEDIT, scroll to HKLM, SOFTWARE, MICROSOFT, WINDOWS, CURRENT VERSION, RUN.

The keys you're seeing in msconfig will be listed there in the righthand column of RUN. See if there's any additional information about those keys.

If you still don't recognize them, I would delete the reference to them in the right hand column. (highlight item, right click, delete)

DONT DELETE any other keys in your registry, you could do major, irreversible damage to your PC.

Another take on this - on my Sony VAIO laptop, I had an item listed that had no name - I unchecked it, and discovered that it was the driver for the touchpad!
