Name: Nick R (by Nick Ritchie)
Iam curious why some of the folders and files listed on my PC ,the name of them is either blue text or black text ? Is this normal ? Or is this a setting that can be changed ,I usally have under view in Windows Explorer for hidden files and folders to not be shown. I only change that when Iam searching for a folder or a file! However that setting makes no differance in the differant text colors. Anyone who can let me know if listing the names in blue or black is normal and what if any differance there is according to the color of the text in the name ? Thank you for all replies !
Take Care ,Nick

I think the blue text means that the file has been compressed, what you can do is right click on the file and under advanced options remove the check in the box which say compress this file. This happens to me on my work pc, dont know how to stop it on all files but i *think* its compressing larger files to save disk space.

Nick, If you don't care for the different color on the compressed folders/files go into Folder Options>View tab and uncheck "show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color", click Apply/OK
Black=Normal, Blue=Compressed, and Green=Encrypted.

Folders like this one --
C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB828028$
and the files contained within, are Unintall folders for any Windows Updates that are installed in your computer. Those Updates are also shown in Add/Remove Programs, like
KB828028.Those files and folders are also BLUE because that is Bill Gates favorite color.

I want to thank all of you for your reply to my question! I greatly appreciate your input and the informative information you gave me. I went to view in Windows Explorer and unchecked the box for showing encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color! Thanks Again:-)
Take Care Nick
