I bought a new Zoom modem that would work with XP Pro and with AOL it sees it and everything is telling me it works fine but when I try to get the Numbers for signing on to aol I hear the modem click on and I hear a dial tone but then it turns off and trys again then after 2mins aol is telling the modem could not get a dial town. I know the wiring is all set up right because I have connected my phone through the bypass on the modem

Make sure you you have unticked the wait for dail tone box in modem properties.
control panel > Modem and Phone options > click on modem tab up the top and go to properties and then to modem again and under dail control there should be a tick box make sure it's unticked. this should fix your problem up.
