CCleaner will clean your registry and clear unneeded files for free. I love the program. There are regular updates to it and no spyware/adware. The website is www.ccleaner.com.

regscrub is probably what you are looking for. It's free and cleans out all the excess keys and values that are nonexistant. Let me know what you think.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I agree with responses no. 1 & 2. Be aware that starting with CCLean version 1.27.260, CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation. IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option or download the toolbarfree Basic version instead of the Standard Build.

The best that I have found is RegSeeker
Leave the backup box checked the first time or until you get comfortable with the program.
Running it the first time, you may have 500 invalid paths or entries.
If anybody knows of a better program, please let me know, I've tried most all of them.

Personally speaking the best registry cleaner is none whatsoever. If your XP is working fine why bother?
