My Pictures folder missing buttons

I just went in to My Pictures folder and the arrows and all the other little buttons at the bottom of the pictures are not their.Not sure how this happened or how to fix it. Also,when I was going through some pics after a couple minutes of browsing,my screen turned grey and I couldn't access anything.If I held down alt+cont+del my taskbar would show but I couldn't get rid of the grey screen.I killed explorer.exe and reopened it and that still didn't do anything. Please post if anyone knows what this problem is and how to fix it. Thanks
