My PC won't connect to the Internet

Microsoft Internet explorer 8
October 14, 2010 at 16:03:46
Specs: Windows XP, 1200 MHz/511 RAM
My PC suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. The wireless network is connected and it tries to connect to AOL. It opens it to the blue background and then stops. It won't even open IE except in Safe Mode with Networking. I have run my McAfee and Registry Mechanic. I also bought Spyware Terminator and ran that. Nothing seems to help. I ran HiJack this and the log is below.

Hope you can help me.

Open cmd and type in ipconfig. Make sure your ip address doesnt start with 169. If it does type in ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. if its the same you have to rebuild your tcp/ip. netsh winsock reset catalog. but since ei wont open sounds like more issues then not being able to connect. Uninstall then reinstall ei through control panel, add/remove programs/ add remove windows compents, might need a windows disk, but it should work after that. then find symantecs online virus scan and run that through ei. I wouldnt trust the one thats installed. Theres probably a virus, or was a virus on your system which could have damaged some other programs.

go to services.msc make sure dhcp is running
go to msconfig, click on the startup tab. the list of checked boxes shouldnt be large, be careful with this one.
Make sure you're not firewalled, your firewall isnt blocking your ip address. Safemode with networking, the antivirus and firewall arent running, so those programs might be the issue.

Thanks. Tried these recommendations. Did not work. Ran online scan in safe mode and nothing was found.
