my pc keeps restarting

hey everyone, i just done a format on my PC and installed XP prof. on my computer. only problem is my PC keeps spontaniously restarting before displaying a message on a blue screen. 'Multiple_IRC_requests' or something like that it goes to fast for me to check and i cant take a screenshot as it looses saved info. anyway, it tells me i should check for installed and updated hardware. Everythings fine on my PC, all the hardware is installed except 'ethernet controller' but i dont think its related to it. I'm afraid my PC's going to reboot again now so im going to have to finish. thanks for your time.

Well I think most restarting Pc Problem related to the following Issues : 1)Bad memory or memory not seated all the way into the Socket 2)Overheated CPU or the CPU heatsink/Fan not working Properly 3)Failing or Small PSU 4)Bad Capacitors on the Mobo. Ps:Next time try to Post the Exact BSOD if you got One From XP Bonne Courage..

have a look in event viewer under the system section to see if you can pick up the error message through there. you can disable the annoying auto restart feature through control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery, settings, automatically restart. this will then allow you to see the message :)

i had this problem,it seemed to be the result of a old or bad driver for a cable modem, motorola surfboard 4100, it only happened when i was on line, new driver helped.
