Specs: Windows 7
My PC has mulitple viruses and has completely wiped everything out. The PC still starts but is still asking of the disc. Unfortunately i dont have one. Can i put a new operating system on it and start again. Please help.

Yes, that would be the correct fix. See the owners manual for exactly how they expect you to recover the system. It may be that you had to make disks ahead of time. May be a F key at boot or might have to buy a dvd for $20 or so.

Might be possible to use another persons W7 dvd to do a "repair" to your system.

I'd reload the OS and then get a good security suite. At least use Microsoft's security essentials.

Most malware these days is NOT a virus, it's something else.

See this to see if you have similar symptoms. If you do, installing and running Malwarebytes will probably get rid of your malware.

Ignore the part about loading your latest System Restore restore point unless you did what the guy in that Topic said he did in the first post - loaded a previous restore point.

I did re install my operating system and also put malwarebytes on it so thank you both for your answers. Hopefully i wont have anymore problems.

Thanks for the thanks, but you probably DID NOT need to re-install the operating system, you could have run Malwarebytes on it BEFORE you resorted to that and there's a very good chance it would have gotten rid of the malware.

The free version of Malwarebytes only runs when you run it. If you want Malwarebytes to protect the computer all the time Windows is running, you need to buy the paid version of it.
