my pc dont turn off directly

I'm using windows XP, at time of turn off by the menu start, my PC no turn off directly, I'm doing this operation in manual form (pushing the botton on/off) What is the reason?

You have to go into desktop properties and allow apm ( advanced power management) for the auto shut down to work.

If your computer is about 3 years old & no bios update available, response #2 is correct......and yours will not turn off automatically when running xp.

Make sure APM (Advanced Power Management) is enabled in the BIOS.
