Comment:

When I go into My Network Places, listed under "The Internet" there is an icon called "ftp.axis.com". I never remember putting this here, and I don't even know how I would. When I try to open it, explorer.exe freezes and I have to end the task. I can't even right click it. I have an Optimum Online cable internet connection, idk if that's related to it. No scans have picked this up as spyware. Anyone know what I should do?

Looks to me like you're running an FTP server on your PC.

Whats that mean? Should I get rid of it? And how do I? Just send it to the recycle bin?

No cameras here. What the heck is this thing? Just delete it and it's gone?

I was able to open the folder. It has folders like "pub", "pub_soft", "bin", "incoming", "usr". Should I delete all these then delete the icon from network places?

Are you saying you do not have anything (hardware and software) that is even remotely linked to axis communications ?

The only hardware I have are some printers and a memory card reader. I can remember installing no software linked to axis.

*Note, they're HP printers, not on a network or anything. I noticed axis does printer stuff too, but I don't think my printers are related. Nor do I think my cable modem would be related.

I just put it in the recycle bin. Do you think that will take care of it?

Go to Webroot and do an online Spysweeper scan.

Scan came up clean. Will moving this to the recycle bin and deleting it get rid of it? That's all I really wanna know. Thanks.

Maybe. Try it.

If it returns, post this on the Security forum.

Yup!

Go ahead and delete it, but you can still see the folders and browse the files in there if you visit the ftp page, just like everyone else would.
