seems to me that xp has an issue with modems. I hope you have an extern modem connected to your com2 port. you can try out the standard modem from xp. big chance that it will work. or otherwise look on the driver cd or the website from the manufacterer for win xp drivers or win 2000 drivers. xp seems not to detect modems on thet comparts for some odd reason.
