my movie player wont work

September 24, 2009 at 17:56:38
Specs: Windows XP, not sure
In the last few days my movie player has stoped working. i tried using system restore but it didnt work. when i try to play a movie using windows media player, real player, or xpac mini dvd player, the movie plays for a few seconds and then i get a message saying he proigram has encounter an error and will now close. about a week and a half ago i changed my processor from a 4400+ to a 6000+ and my vid card from a 7900gt to a 260gtx. Im not sure if that has something to do with it. Im afraid to set my system to a point before i changed the processor and vid card, cause im not sure what that would do. thanks.

"i tried using system restore but it didnt work.

It didn't work, or it didn't help?

That might be a tough one. How about trying a newer or older driver for the 260gtx.

I think that I would try reinstalling the 7600gt. I'm thinking that because the problem is related to video.

Oh, is it just failing when playing DVDs?

There are many hits when searching on 'MFC Application has encountered a prolem and needs to close'. I haven't been able to find a fix.
I have a vague memory of reading something quite a while ago about software conflicts, but I don't remember what it was. I'll keep looking, but maybe someone will pop in with a fix.
