There are a couple of things you could try.

If your machine was just shutting down on you, that could be an overheating issue. Please make sure all fans inside the cpu are in working order.

When you first turn your computer on, does anything show up on your monitor? There should be an initial splash screen right when you first turn your computer on. If this screen does show up, then it could be a video driver issue.

If no splash screen comes up, then it sounds like it could be a video card issue. Maybe try reseating it.
