my manli softk56 modem won't dial!

i have a manli modem that uses the generic softk56 drivers for it... it doesn't work at all! i create this new inet connection, fill those parameters and all, then click on connect and it starts polling my phone, but it doesn't dial anything! how do i get it up and running?!!!
