Hello ,

my Laptop is very slow and I don't know why. May be there are just two many processes runing at the same time and may be there are viruses or anything else (although I have Norton Internet Security and checked my laptop today again).

Can you please tell me what I should do? Do you need my data from HijackThis?

Thanks in advance,

Alcado

Start --> Run --> msconfig --> startup tab --> deselect everything you feel is not necessary for boot.

If you cant run msconfig, restart in safe mode and do the above from safe mode.

I would also try an updated virus scan.

Hi alcado,

Just start TaskManager (press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or CTRL+ALT+DEL) and check out which processes are running and how much CPU they are using.

One thing I have found is that AV software slows
a computer down. I took mine out.
You could get more RAM memory. XP is a RAM hog.

Sorry, but I have to jump in with that reply. It's completely foolish to run your computer without antivirus software.
