I have a Sony Vaio laptop (Model: PCG FX220). I recently installed Windows XP on it (it came with Windows 2000 Millenium edition) and the Fn key on the keyboard stopped working. The Fn key (Function key) is what you hold on, and then push other keys that use the Fn keys. For example there is a volume key on the keyboard. To change volume, I have to hold on the Fn key and then hit the volume key. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make these keys work again? Thank you very much.

Your keyboard had special drivers installed with the Sony configuration using Win ME. Since you changed operating systems, you nee to see if you can find the drivers for that keyboard configuration using Win XP. Check the Sony site to see if they offer an upgraded set of drivers. Good Luck.

here you go http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-list.pl?template=EN&mdl=PCGFX220 copy and paste this into file|open then enter and youll know what to do. You will find that most of your drivers need to be updated. I just did this yesterday on a 210. Dont worry about the bios update unless you find something major wromg after the up date. I have 2 of the laptops and have never done the bios
