My fonts disappear when I turn off the com

Specs: Windows XP
Recently I've been downloading fonts from online and I've downloaded them into my fonts folder. They could be used but when I turn off the computer, they seem to disappear from my Fonts folder. So every time I turn on the computer the fonts are not there anymore and I have to redownload them again. This is really troublesome as I'm using the fonts for a school project.

Also, when I click "Install New Fonts" in my fonts folder and click the fonts I want to install, whenever the "Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder" box is ticked, I can't download the fonts because it says they're in use or something. Then I have to uncheck the box so the fonts can be downloaded. Anyone knows a solution to this problem?

For one thing, by default The Windows "Fonts Applet" expects that you downloaded to any other default location but the Fonts folder, and that you would install from that download location or device... or is that too complicated fer ya...

Not sayin' that is the solution [or even the problem], just pointing out that since you are obviously short-cutting the process, you might have to expect the un-expected. Seems like that might be a reasonable direction to consider...

Yes, if you download and save them to some empty folder at least they will stay there after reboot. You can then, without fear of losing them, install from that location. The original downloads can be kept until you are sure the new fonts are visible Fonts folder after reboot. If not you will still have your downloads, so you can review your methods and try again.

The above will at least save you having to keep downloading.

Please do not post then vanish - let us know the outcome
