i have no start menu can only get on the internet using task manager, i downloaded a antivirus and it seems to have deleted windows xp and i seem to be running in win32 mode, can't find any help except this PLEASE help me i don't want to lose all my pics on this computer!!!

Need more information. Before this happened what was installed or downloaded? Are you able to see your start menu in safemode ? What anti-virus do you have?

one thing do right click on blank desktop & then first option arrange icon by - check mark on Show Desktop Icons

Sorry I downloaded mcafee free trial, have no desktop no start menu, cannot right click my mouse(nothing happens) the only thing i can do is get my task manager up and find things in there. after we downloaded mcafee it froze near the very end of the scan so my son rebooted and all was gone. when i try to get to my computer says windows cannot find error. I can get on the internet if i use the explorer.exe thats about it. thanks to all

If you want to retrieve your pics, download Puppy Linux on another computer then burn a CD from the ISO.
You can then use the CD to run Linux on the faulty machine (without using XP itself), then copy your stuff onto a Flash Drive in the USB socket.

well there nothing to worry about! dont worry about viruses one prcess of urs has been ended all u gotta do is to follow this Ctrl+Alt+Del.-----then click on new task. and then type in " explorer.exe"
