I doubt Dell have done anything - your computer has developed a fault,

Tap F8 key during startup and see if you can see a menu with Safe Mode mentioned. If it is there go for it and let us know if it then boots up. Note that in Safe Mode things will look rather different (large icons etc).

If this fault came on recently and you can get into Safe Mode then you could do system restore to a time before the problem came along - type System Restore in search.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"still no joy".
Does that mean exactly the same thing happened and you didn't get to Safe Mode? If so start tapping F8 immediately you put the power on and keep doing it until you are sure it is not going to take you there.

Or do you mean that you managed to get to Safe Mode but the load still failed?

One long shot is to turn off the computer, disconnect the power and remove the main laptop battery. Before reassembling hold the Power Off/On button down for at least 20 seconds to discharge the motherboard.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"got windows up then it went back to load"
After doing which part of my #3?

Please answer the two questions in #3 about what happened when you tried to go to Safe Mode.

I am trying to understand "exactly" what is happening.

I think that button was removed early on at the behest of BIG COMPUTER. They figured if you could fix it you wouldn't buy a new one.

(Well, it sounds plausible.)
