If it wont turn on after it shuts down, it kinda sounds like the computer may be overheating. That would mainly be the processor, but there are so many things that could cause it to shut off like that. But not turning back on and having to wait some time, that really sounds like a heat issue. CPU or RAM could be over heating. A bad hard drive would not be doing something like taking 10 minutes for the computer to turn off if the physical plates the data is stored on or the ARM that reads the data is bad.

IF you have an intel only go to

for an AMD and intel

My second Link also shows temps for the Hard drive if it can get it.

A buzzing sound could be anything from a bad system fan to a bad hard drive.

If your doing something with the harddrive, that is when you should hear clicking/scraping. If the HD is NOT doing anything and you hear the noise, then it is not the Hard drive as others have mentioned.
( they dont like that they are wrong and game me a thumbs down...Boo Hoo LOL)

Gregs Idea of unplugging the HD and letting sit may not work, becuase it will not be under "load" which means when your surfing the net, listening to music. It could stay on for hours and not over heat because its just idiling and not doing anything.

Download my programs I linked, I recommend speedfan (second link) and turn on the computer and start doing stuff, watch the temps. If it start hitting like 80c+ thats bad. time for a new computer.
