Ok, the last computer that I got all of a sudden acted up on me, it kept on shutting down and restarting by itself. When manually shut down, it took like 20 minutes to start up again. Then it just fried.
So I got a new FIC AT31 motherboard, new DDR ram, an Athlon XP 1900+ processor. I discovered that my last power supply was a measly 80watts (thanks to Dell shortchanging me on parts). So I borrowed a 200watt power supply from a friend.
Now, I have a working computer.

But occasionally, the computer shuts down or restarts on me again! Esp if I'm running Adobe Photoshop 7 or playing games (American McGee's Alice)

Please somebody tell me what's going on! I pretty much bought everything new and I'm still having all kinds of trouble. Is it the power supply? Would going to a 300watt one help for sure?

I'd at least go to 350 just to be sure. If you dont add more hard drives I believe that should suffice.

How hot is the box? How many fans are in the box? Is the fan on the CPU turning? Does the motherboard have a program to install to monitor the temp of the CPU? Most BIOS's have a default temp at which they power down the computer. I would bet that it is temp related and not the power supply

I bought a 450/W power supply from www.pricewatch.com for 16.00 shipped, at that price why take the chance that you are underpowered if you do not have the power/W the reserve to handle your system then the memory chips might be low on power and same for the cpu that could create all kinds of intermitent problems
