jl10, sounds to me like your 'splash' screen setting needs to be enabled/altered. It is usually in the "boot" section of the BIOS. "boot settings congifuration", "fill screen logo". Take a look at yours. HTH. Ed in Texas.

If I understand you right -- after your PC boots up your My Document folder is open on your desktop.
If that is correct:
I think you should check START>PROGRAMS>STARTUP and maker sure a link to your my documents folder is not listed in there.
If so just right click on it and select delete.

There is nothing in the BIOS that is going to cause the My Documents folder to open up, that is a function of Windows. You can rule out the spalsh screen as well. You can also Google for a program called Startup Control Panel. It will list all the locations that programs can be started from and all programs in those locations.
