Subject: My Computer on my desktopOS: XP 2002 SP2CPU/Ram: PIII 1000mhz /512mbModel/Manufacturer: Compaq Evo Laptop |
Comment: At some point yesterday I deleted the "My Computer" icon from my desk top. Now I have my OS setup "Classic" style so it looks more like 2000 Pro than is does XP.
When I setup the start menu as XP default, I can get the icon on my desltop, no problems. But when I go back to "Classic", it's gone again. Now I know I can send a shortcut to my desktop and all that, but I need to be able to access the "My Computer">"Properties" when I want to with out jumping through a bunch of hoops. Any ideas how I can get the original icon back on my desktop in "Classic" mode? TIA JMhandy keep your friends close keep your enemies closer

Reply: (edit)right click on desktop > properties > > desktop > customize desktop or ... if you still have the xp start menu, right click on 'my computer' > show on desktop (you can choose your start menu type by right clicking on the taskbar > properties > start menu) Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'icq 10183575

Reply: (edit)Thanks "Mattie"
right click on desktop > properties > > desktop > customize desktop
That's what I was looking for.
or ... if you still have the xp start menu, right click on 'my computer' > show on desktop (you can choose your start menu type by right clicking on the taskbar > properties > start menu)
Just for the record, when using the XP style menus you can choose show my computer on desktop, but as soon as you change back to Classic style my computer goes away. thanks again JM Please support the FAIR TAX by visiting: http://www.fairtax,org
