My computer keeps shutting down

Ok I recently bought a 1gb Ram chip and installed it about 5 months ago and It worked fine for a while then my computer started shutting down randomly and every time I try to install it, my computer keeps shutting down. Any help would be appreciated

First remove the 1gb Ram chip. Does the PC behave OK?

Doble check that the chip is properly seated and making a good conection, try removing other ram and using the gig chip by itself. Did you check thta ur comp is compatible with a gig chip? Some are only compatibe with a max 512. Also could be chip overheating...but like mentioned above, it could just be a bad chip...does it have a warenteee?

By looking at your processor speed,which you say it is 634 mhz,and your computer is an HP, I would say that the max memory would be (512mb ram) and it should be either pc-100 or pc-133.. i think your problem is too much memory for that computer..
