Hello, today, I was watching video clips.

Suddenlty, I open a video clip and there is only 0.5 second of sound and then it turns out no sound at all...at the beginning, I thought it was the clip's problem...but I was wrong, all other files, musics, videos have NO MORE SOUND!, not even booting up my windows xp or shutting it down.....

Also, I have another operating system(Win98), when I start at Win98, there is no sound neither...

I changed by speaker, but it still doesn't work.

My computer doesn't have a sound card, i'm using ECS elitegroup K7S5A motherboard, so the sound is build-in board.

Please help

oh I forgot to mention this:

When I open up my "volume control" from the start menu. If I "check" the box(click it repeatly) "Mute all" under "volume control", I can heard a "cracky" noise from my speaker....

Try a system restore and go back just b4 it happened this is under start, programs, accesories, system tools

if in event that doesn't work it might be a good idea to reinstall the onboard sound driver.

hmm i guess so

It still doesn't work :(

I also find out that:

if I turn the volume to maximum, and if I move my mouse, I can hurt some noise from the speaker.

do you think I got a computer virus from my video clip? Is that possible for a computer virus to do this kind of damaged?

Make sure that the sound card and speakers are installed and properly plugged in on your computer or any conncectors that you may have hooked up through your home audio. Try to play the video again. Sometimes if these "jiggle" the sound becomes choppy.

Oh, I just find out that my motherboard has A LOT OF DUST!, is that the cause?

I always open my computer cover, if not, then my cpu will reach more than 55 degree.

Thanks guy, now it works!,

I just unplug all my stuff, blow the dust and wait about an hour, after that I restart the computer and now it works....why?
Now I wonder if it is my temperature is too high?, because I turn on my computer for more than 12 hours above 50 degree? or it is the dust that cause the trouble...

AMD likes it hot lol...my 2500+ runs at 60C without breaking a sweat.

And taking off the cover reduces airflow across the rest of the motherboard and components because it is not being drawn in the front, pulled across the board and pushed out the back.

If you are really concerned about keeping the temp down, get an extra case fan or lower the temp in the room by just a few degrees.
