Hi lately my laptop, which is a hp one, with windows xp, take the longest time to set my personal setting in the desktop. I usually don’t have problem when I first start the computer and key in my password in my user dialog box. After that part is done the screen shows me the wallpaper but a dialog box with the writings of “ please waiting for your personal settings…”. What could be the problem? Mega.

How large is your profile; have you a significant number of junk files (temp, temp-internet, cookies etc...)? Have you cleaned out the junk in your profile? A large profile can take a while to load...; even more so if it's spread over the drive... rather than reasonably contiguous ...? Junk and assorted temp files etc. do frequently bulk up a profile... with the result often as you have now... Have you also defragged the drive lately?
