I am working on a computer and when I turn it on the CD drive door opens I am trying to download an OS and the door will not stay shut, I went into my BIOS and CMOS everything seems to be in order. I opened up the computer to check inside and don't see anything wrong. I am clueless to what is wrong can you help?

years ago there was a joke people played on others, having the cdrom open and close at different times...I can't quite remember what that was...if I remember, I'll post back. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
I have seen this issue on my own older PC and I simply place my hand in front of it preventing it from opening on it's own and then it works just fine after that. HTH

hook up another cd drive, install the os, then reinstall the old drive. larry
