I have no sound on my computer. When I went to check the drivers, the sound card drivers appear to be installed correctly but the Multimedia Audio Controller is not installed. When I went to install it, I got a message that read "During Installation a problem occurred - Access Denied" Whats wrong and what do I do?

It seems to me that either the driver you are trying to install is not compatible with the current OS you have (Win XP home) or, there is a conflict between some other drivers and this one. I suggest, you go on the web and try to download the newer version and compatible version with your OS and then reinstall the driver. In case you had any more questions, feel free to contact me.

The sound had been working fine until a couple of days ago when my computer crashed and I had to reinstall windows. If its a conflict, what do I need to do?

In most cases, Multimedia Audio Controller in Device Manager signifies your sound card or onboard sound chip. What sound card are you using?

Go to the device manager and remove the sound card or chip. Let xp find it again. A pain in the butt but it works.
