Comment:

Have downloaded drivers for this device from various sources including Mustek Germany, Taiwan blah, blah. XP tells me new device installed & ready to use. Cntrl Pnl, scanners & cameras, icon of scanner, (configure device) nothing happens. 'Test device' option greyed & doesn't respond

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Try removing your usb lead from your machine, power down, power up, should be seen by plug and play, "new hard wear found" when you reconnect your usb lead.
Hope that does it.

If in doubt don't do it!

Hey daisymay
Thanx for reply. Done all that each time I downloaded each set of drivers. i.e install drivers without scanner plugged in, reboot, plug in scanner, it auto installs, system says it's installed & ready to use.... but nothing. The little light on the scanner is on, so it's getting power, just won't do anything!!

Hi,
The only other thought is maybe you need to move your usb lead to another position/port (it worked for me once!) and reinstall your usb drivers [2.** and 1.1]. Then try another/different Mustek 1200 usb program, cant do any harm! If not that sorry, run out of ideas.

I had this problem as this scanner can be a pain. Simply download the Xp drivers from the mustek sight (I got them from there) remove any drivers that are currently installed and any of the mustek software. Unplug 1200UB and restart. Once restarted install the XP drivers as it says and follow the instructions. Once done your scanner should be installed and the green light on (I'm not sure if a restart was in there somewhere) Then install the Mustek scanning software. If you don't have it and have got MS office installed with Photo Editor try scanning a picture through that or any other scanning capable pogram (but not the camera and scanner wizard) HTH
