Must click to enlarge new browser window

February 14, 2010 at 14:01:53
Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 2.394 GHz / 3710 MB

When I open ANY new site I then must click to ENLARGE. Was not this way until recently.
By ENLARGE, I mean the site page fills my screen instead of being reduced and only partially seen.

Do you have the standard menu bar with File, Edit, View, enabled? Make sure you only have one IE window open, make sure it is full screen, then click File > Exit. Open a new IE window...it should now open full size.

eager beaver,
Follow the instructions at the links below for your version of Internet Explorer.

How do I have an Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) or earlier version window open in the maximized position every time?

How do I have an Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) window open in the maximized position every time? This should also work for IE 8.

This I noticed a long time ago, probably after some update. My solution after that was to just manually enlarge the window to cover 98% or so of the screen. This way new windows open in 'small' but still fill the screen and it never bothered me after that. (Easy work around for something annoying.)
