Help me please? i can't seem to figure this problem out.

My friends computer for some reason when you play music it lags in media player. Parts of the song would play, but then it would just cut out from playing. The seconds of the music keep going as if the music were to still be playing but it isnt. I thought maybe it was the song or the speakers, but i tried downloading winamp, and tried to play an mp3 with it, same thing happened. Also tried changing the speakers and same thing happens.

Hi,

Mine cuts out sometimes because the audio shares an IRQ with the modem.

I need to fix this when I get to it.

Check your device manager to see if the IRQ for sound is shared.

Oh.. i'll check that out. For some reason the music keeps playing but it lags for a little bit. Like.. the song would play for 5 seconds, and then stop... the seconds keep going for another 3 or so, then the music starts up again. As if the song were being streamed. Anyone got any idea if it might be the IRQs?

I have the same problem. At first I tought it was my sound card, a SB Live LS, which sucks anyway, but it turned out to not be that. It only started lagging on me after I installed a new 64 MB video card. So update your video card drivers if they're not updated. Also update your sound card drivers too. Also try playing the disc in Media Player with the player minimized. I have found out that the visualations like the Bars and Waves I run, that lags it. So I turned my visuals off and minimize Media Player, and it helps. Also, if you're running on a slower computer and/or with a slower cd rom (i.e. a 32X CD Rom or slower) it can make it lag worse than AOL Dialup on a 33.6 Kbps modem. Just some things you might want to try. If that doesn't work, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for your problem.
