Comment:

We are having PC's in our enterprise seem to lock up but what is happening is the Multi-User Cleanup Service is running. Does anyone know how to disable this? I can't find references to this service anywhere.

This is a Lotus Notes Problem.Upgrade to Notes 6.02

When the Notes 6.x Multi-user client is installed, the
Multi-User Cleanup Service event is
installed along with the client code. The Multi-user
Cleanup Service event is an operating
system (OS) event that is installed only with the
Notes 6.x Multi-User client, and is
specifically designed to be used by the client code
along with the Roaming User feature in
Notes/Domino 6.x. The event itself is automatically
launched in the background at startup of
the workstation, and is called into action if a user on
that workstation has been selected by
their Administrator to "roam" on that workstation
and has selected one of the clean-up options
that can be used with this specific type of client
install. This event should not be called
into action otherwise.

It has been reported and reproduced within Lotus/
IBM Support that merely installing the
multi-user client code will cause this OS event to
erroneously log repeated instances of
start/stop/run activities. A message to this effect
can be written to the Event View Log every
5 seconds. The event may continue reporting
activities for approximately 2 minutes at this
pace. Also, additional reports and testing have
shown that when the client requests the
services of this event for a roaming user (because
they are using a cleanup option other than
the default action of "Do not clean up"), this will also
cause the Event Log to fill with
repeated messages of start/run activities by this
event.

This unfortunate effect can cause the log to fill
unnecessarily and may cause operating system
performance issues for the workstation due to the
increasing size of this file.
