i have the system drive (c) and another drive (D) in the computer. i want to put xp on the D drive for myself and keep the c drive XP for others. i dont want to have to format C. can i install XP on D drive and everything be ok? i have checked on windows suport but got nothing. thank you for any replys.

You will have to use a third party boot manager because I don't think that the built in boot manager will allow the same OS as a dual boot. And personally I don't trust the XP boot manager as it has a tendancy to over write the boot files for the multiple OS.
I use "Boot ItNG"($35us)and it allows you to have as many OS as you could possibly want and they can all be the same or any thing. With 2 HDDs then you can format the slave drive and transfer the whole thing over to the new drive and have both systems operational yet still be able to transfer files back and forth. It hides the boot files from each drive/partition so as to make each OS be the default"C" drive. The thing about this is that each drive can be swapped in and out without destroying or changing the boot files It has a full system 30 day free trial if you want to try it out. Just besure to read the "READ ME" file.IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE,

You can install two copies of XP on different drives effortlessly, however your master boot record is going to remain on the system drive (C:), that part you cannot change.
Do not type anything in this space.

Hi
You can boot from drive to drive if the bios give you that option,
I use Casper xp free verion works a treat two 120 gb drives boot to my own from bios

Echoing Sabretooth's advice.
You can simply install XP to the second drive (d: ) via the standard XP setup route/approach - CD boot or the 6 floppies + CD. The boot/start-up files for both versions will be in c: .
No need of add-in utils etc.
