before you wipe your drive with fdisk you may wish to ask a more specific question with as many details as to your present install configuration so you can be properly advised.

First, it depends on if both xp have been located on the same parition or different parition.

if it's on same parition, simply just delete the multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\%the_one_winxp_you_want_to_delete%="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect), and then delete the folder.

if it's on different parition, for example d drive (assume that it is the boot parition), first boot to the recovery console, select the winxp on c: , copy d:\boot.ini and d:\ntldr and d:\ntdetect.com, then delete (or format) the d:, finally remember to change the boot.ini, just simple delete the d:winxp entry (should be multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2) if you're running single HDD) , finally reboot computer, it should automatically boot into the c:winxp !

Are you sure there are two installations of XP on your machine? That means there are two Windows directories, two Documents & Settings directories, and two Program Files directories.

If that's the case, boot into the Windows installation that resides on the primary partition of your primary hard drive and have fun deleting the unnecessary folders belonging to the other Windows installation. If they're located on a separate partition, you can just format it after backing up the data you want to keep.

If you DON'T have multiple Windows, Program Files, etc., directories, there's a good chance you don't have two installations of XP. This often happens when you accidentally start XP setup twice and don't exit by pressing F3 the second time. In this case you can go to Control Panel --> System --> Advanced --> Startup & Recovery and manually remove the extra bootup option by editing the boot settings file.

i understand what RN is talking about, i too have the same problem. but i have 4 options to choose from when i start my computer. the reason for mine is because i had to install windows xp 4 different times since something happened to my previous 3 and i can no longer sign on to those. so i'd like to understand a little more about deleting the 3 os i dont use.
