Comment:

I have noticed lately multiple copies of iexplore.exe running in my task manager even after I have closed all iexplore windows running on my desktop. I usually just close them in the task manager but the eventually return after a while. It's not normally a problem except the other day the memory usage was up to120 Mb for one of the processes.

I have checked my Startup for any programs that may be starting them at boot but there were not any there. I have a feeling it may be a trojan or something that runs when iexplore is executed but I cant confirm this.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, you can go to Symantec's website, and if you have a decent internet connection you cna run a virus scan from their engine (doesn't fix the viruses, but tells you if you're infected).
Otherwise, try reinstalling the Service Pack for XP as well as reinstalling Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 and see if that fixes it.
Might also take a look at your Event Viewer in case something is just erroring out and causing this....
