Comment:

Is there an application, script or set of commands that will allow the user to search for a large number of different file names in one query?

I have a text file containing a list of hundreds of file names and a folder containing thousands of files. Due to the character limit in the windows file search field, I am unable to search for more than 7 to 10 file names at a time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

satdl, there probably is (or it can be written) a utility around that will do what you want. Sadly, I don't know where to direct you, maybe someone does, but I have a suggestion.
Simplify any search by presorting files into the various folders alphabetically such as a folder A - L, M - Z, etc.. You can sub-divide as far as you need and it'll simplify and speed up any search.
