Hi. My computer detected a new hardware "multimedia audio controller". But the problem is I did not download anything, neither did i bot a new card. So why does my computer detect this new hardware?/ What is the function of this multimedia audio controller??

The function of the audio controller is to control volume for CD/DVD audio, Microsoft video, midi sequencer, etc. All your audio devices depending on which ones you have installed or connected.
I occasionally experience "new hardware found" on boot up before. Chalk it up to possible WinXP bug(s).
