I have MSN Messenger version 7.0 which I use everyday. Suddenly when I try to sign in, a box pops up telling me i MUST update to the newer version, without letting me sign in which sounds fine, but my operation system will not run the latest version. I have tried and a window comes up saying that I have the wrong operating system. Microsoft do say that if your system cannot run the latest version, they will not make you update, but they are making me update and it wont work. I have tried all kinds of help and support on the Microsoft website but I cant find anything useful. Does anybody know a way around this? At the moment im using an IM alternative but I need to be on msn again.
Thanks
Carl

Does anybody know a way around this
Not really. MS controls the WLM servers used by over 300 million active users and they have software that stop those who have not upgraded to the latest version. Effective today, WLM 8.1 and 8.5 users are starting to see mandatory upgrades to build 14.0.8089.726, and next month M$ will will tackle the remaining users of old Messenger versions.
As for your system that does not meet WLM system requirement, M$ does not care because in their eye It is your problem, not theirs.

I think that is stupid and sucks , microsoft doing this ,because they also assume u have the latest computers and so.
Yahoo does the same thing constantly upgrading the email accounts , and therefore loads slower as compared to when yahoo email was first introduced. Also with all the new features it makes messenger harder to navigate the more options they put in.
